NEW DELHI, March 12: The Union tourism ministry today rejected the World Economic Forum’s “travel and tourism competitiveness report 2008”, which has not shown any improvement in India’s overall ranking in the field, as “unsubstantiated and full of shortcomings”.
According to the WEF’s latest report, the overall index ranks India at 65 in 2008 ~ which was also its ranking in its report last year. The report provides the ranking of 130 countries according to travel and tourism competitiveness index. Disagreeing with the report, the tourism ministry said “there are glaring shortcomings” in both the reports by the WEF.
